Core77 posted an article about Dominic Wilcox's blog at http://variationsonnormal.com/, in which he is creating a new object every day for 30 days. After going through his posts so far, I find his work to be very creative and whimsical. My favorite ideas include a tie that bends upwards to revel a business card, an illustrated diary written on a tape measure and his soccer ball smoothie maker.
I would love to work on a project like this, even if it's just a scalded down version over spring break. I think it's important for all designers to do small projects and play around to keep the creativity flowing, just like a painter sketching everyday. You never know what might come of of these small things.
